How do we become a disciple?
While the apostle and followers of Jesus experienced in intimate way the power of God through his miracles, healings and teachings they were not yet ready to take on the world after Jesus suffered and died. Even after having the Risen Lord appear to them several times after the Resurrection, Jesus’ believers were still living in fear of the authorities. They were afraid that what happened to Jesus could happen to them. The Risen Jesus tells his followers to wait in the city until He sends them the Advocate. The day of Pentecost, the day in which God pours out his holy Spirit into the souls of his followers empowering them to conquer the world and baptize all nations. The Sacrament of Confirmation is the continuation of this outpouring upon believers so that we too may be empowered to bring the message of Salvation to the world. Our preparation is to prepare a Catholic to receive this same power from on high in order to fulfill the mission entrusted to us.
Here at UH, the journey to be confirmed is a 1 year process. It includes 3 components: Weekly classes, participation in a small faith group, and a once a year day of reflection or retreat. Check in later for more information on when classes start.
