When we’re born, we all have something called original sin. It was the one first committed by Adam and Eve.
When we receive the Sacrament of Baptism, we are washed of that sin and of all those committed before receiving it.
We’re made sons and daughters of God and we officially become a part of the Church.
The Catholic Church teaches that “Every person not yet baptized and only such a person is able to be baptized.” (CCC 1246)
Baptism can only be received once because the grace of baptism remains with us forever (CCC 1121). As such it is not possible to be baptized more than once.
Candidates will get baptized on Easter Vigil at the UH Catholic Newman Center.
Adults seeking baptism or to become members of the Church must enter into the process OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults). It consists of weekly classes where you will journey with others to dive deeper into the Faith.
Infant and children baptisms are not offered at the UH Catholic Center.
