Dear Catholic Coogs,
Christ is born! Cristo ha nacido! Chúa giáng sinh! Isinilang na si Hesu Kristo! A mụrụ Kraịst! Christus natus est!
May the generous outpouring of God’s love in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ, made so tender and human in the baby Jesus, bring you and your parents and families much joy, peace and health this Christmas and into 2022. Returning to more normalcy, dealing with the continued suffering and concerns brought on by COVID-19 and completing the fall semester 2021 have all been significant challenges. You deserve a well-earned rest.
My family and I were able to fulfill the sacred duties of celebrating a Mass in memory of my mother on December 18th in my hometown parish of the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC and interring her cremains in our family cemetery. She passed away on January 27, 2020 and I am grateful for your prayerful support as the pandemic interrupted our grieving.
Let us commit ourselves during this sacred time to being more hopeful and joyful than ever before. Rest assured of my prayers and petitions in the Masses I celebrate. I am grateful for your faith and commitment to Christ and our ministry, which have truly been sources of strength for me. Thank you!
Padre Charlie
