Christ’s peace to all of you! Last month, my religious order concluded our quadrennial chapter (held every 4 years) in which we elected our new prior provincial superior and council for the Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres, which covers Texas and the southeastern United States. One of their tasks is to make new assignments. 4 years ago I received a new assignment to come to Houston and UH after seven years in New Orleans. It was a ministry I looked forward to and God in his goodness has made it an incredible blessing. All of you have been and are part of His plan and blessings. I am eternally grateful to each of you.
I did not expect to be affected by the new assignments this time, but, yes, I was given a new mission. Later in August, I will assume the ministry of pastor of Holy Ghost Parish and School in Hammond, Louisiana. After several years serving on missions in Central and South America, vocations ministry and at Tulane University and UH, this new mission will be a new venture. It is not easy to make these changes and I know it will probably be difficult for you to understand. You are part of my journey and the Lord has allowed me to be a part of your lives. Thank you. Again, thank you! Let us remain united in prayer. St. John Henry Newman, patron saint of our Newman Center and ministry, pray for us, ruega por nosotros, ora pro nobis!
